Six trophies, and all six are photographed on this page. Five came from the JMAIIE Excellence Awards Night, in 2023 and 2024. The sixth came from GJEPC in 2025 and went to a person rather than a machine.

Under each one we have quoted the engraving word for word, including the bits that are inconsistent. After 48 years in this trade we would rather you checked a claim than took it.

GJEPC — the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council — names forty people under the age of forty who are moving the Indian gem and jewellery trade forward. Dhyey Mehta made the third edition, for 2025-26.

He is the third generation in the business and runs the machinery side of it. The base plate carries the IIJS Premiere 2025 and GJEPC India marks alongside the name.

Cutting and marking are two different jobs. Cutting separates and shapes metal early, around design and moulding; marking applies hallmarks, purity stamps and serial numbers at the end. This trophy is for the cutting side.

What it does tell you

That people inside this industry — the ones who run the shows, the hallmarking desks and the machinery halls — rated the range highly in a given year, and were willing to put it on a trophy with a date on it. It is a checkable, public opinion rather than our own marketing.

What it doesn't

Whether the machine suits your factory. Throughput, stone sizes, power supply, floor space and who services it in your city all decide that, and none of them are on a trophy. Tell us what you produce and we will tell you which machine fits — including when it is a smaller one.

Yes — six. Which Semsons machine won Best Laser Cutting Machine?

Smart Cut, our jewellery laser cutting machine. Cutting is a different job from marking: cutting separates and shapes metal early in production, around design and moulding, while marking applies hallmarks, purity stamps and serial numbers at the end. The award is for the cutting side of the range.

Why does one trophy say Semsons International instead of Semsons Tech?

Because that is how it was engraved. The 2023 Best Diamond Tools and Consumables Manufacturers award carries the name Semsons International, a Semsons group name; the 2024 machine awards are engraved Semsons Tech. We have reproduced both as they appear rather than standardising them, so the photographs and the captions match.

Does an award mean the machine is right for my factory?

No, and we would rather say so. An award tells you a panel of people in this industry rated the range highly in a given year. It does not tell you whether the throughput, stone sizes, power supply and after-sales cover suit your production. Send us what you make and in what volume, and we will tell you which machine fits — including when the answer is a smaller one than you asked about.

Can I see the trophies in person?

Yes. They are at our head office at Bharat Diamond Bourse, BKC, Mumbai. If you are visiting to see a machine run, say so when you book and we will have them out.
