SMT 01–04
Four sizes of double head rolling mill, from a 1 hp single-phase unit at 210 kg to a 5 hp three-phase production mill at 600 kg.
Semsons Tech
Rolling and wire drawing turn cast metal into the sheet and wire that findings, chains and hand-fabricated pieces are made from. A rolling mill reduces an ingot between hardened rolls, flat for sheet or through grooves for wire; a wire drawing machine then pulls that wire through a series of dies, each smaller than the last, down to fine gauges.
Semsons Tech supplies four double head rolling machines, SMT 01 to SMT 04, and three multi-pass wire drawing machines, SMT 82 to SMT 84. The catalogue publishes a full parameter table for each, reproduced below and on the two machine pages.

It depends on what you make. Sheet work — bangles, plates, stampings — needs the rolling mill only. Wire for chain, findings and filigree usually needs both: the mill takes an ingot down through its grooves to a starting wire, and the drawing machine takes that wire down to the finished gauge in one run. A 47-gauge (0.05 mm) finish is beyond what grooves alone produce.
The SMT 01, SMT 02 and SMT 03, at 1, 1.5 and 2 hp. Only the SMT 04, at 5 hp / 3.75 kW, needs a three-phase supply on the catalogue table.
The number of dies the wire passes through in one run. The 6-pass SMT 82 accepts wire up to 1.2 mm, the 8-pass SMT 83 up to 1.4 mm and the 12-pass SMT 84 up to 2.0 mm, and all three draw down to 0.05 mm. Choose by the thickest wire you feed.
They sit alongside it rather than inside it. The ten stages run from design through casting to finishing for cast jewellery; rolling and drawing supply the sheet and wire for fabricated and chain work, and for findings, and so are usually installed beside the casting and melting stage that produces the ingots they start from.
