Semsons Tech

XRF Gold Analyzers & Gold Testing Machines

XRF gold testing tells you what a piece is actually made of without destroying it. For a manufacturer that means incoming verification, in-process control across melts, and outgoing assurance before goods leave the floor. For a retailer or buyer it means settling a purity question in under a minute at the counter.

Semsons Tech supplies the Signet range of XRF analyzers plus a portable gold testing machine. The two flagship benchtop units are the Signet FSDD and the Signet Si-Pin, which differ mainly in detector, resolution and element coverage.

Answers

Common questions

Written to be useful before you buy, not after.

How accurate is XRF gold testing?

Both the Signet FSDD and Signet Si-Pin are catalogue-specified at ±0.03% — the Si-Pin figure is stated for gold at 99.9% and above. The FSDD analyses from 1% to 99.99% Au; the Si-Pin from ppm to 99.99%. For best results the FSDD entry specifies roughly a 40-second test, within a 10 to 60 second range.

Does XRF testing damage the piece?

No. XRF is non-destructive — the sample sits in the chamber and is analysed without cutting, scraping or dissolving it. That is why it suits finished jewellery, incoming scrap and customer walk-ins equally.

Which Signet model should I choose?

If your work is primarily high-purity gold verification, the FSDD's 145 ± 15 eV resolution and 72-element coverage is the stronger instrument. If you need to detect trace elements down to ppm, or you want a lighter 25 kg unit with a smaller footprint, the Si-Pin is the better fit. Tell us your sample types and volumes and we will recommend one.

Can XRF test powder and liquid as well as solid gold?

Yes — both benchtop Signet models are catalogue-specified for solid, powder and liquid measurement objects.

What environment does the machine need?

The FSDD is specified for 0–35 °C ambient temperature and humidity below 70%, on a 230V/50Hz input. Keep it out of direct heat and away from polishing dust.
