Automatic Diamond Wax Setting Machines
Automatic wax setting is stage four of ten in a jewellery factory, and it is the stage where automation changes the economics most sharply. A setting machine places stones into wax patterns at a rated speed and a published accuracy, repeatably, for as long as the shift lasts — which is a different proposition from a skilled setter having a good day.
Semsons Tech builds four platforms. The Pro Mini (catalogue name Mini Pro) is the compact single-station entry. The PRO SERIES is the full-size single station. The X4 Pro Plus (catalogue name ST-3D 1000, PRO PLUS) is a double station with four nozzles. The ST-HDSSM is a double station, double head machine with eight. All four hold ±0.02 mm spot drilling accuracy, and all four run an industrial-grade five-axis motion controller, a high-end servo drive and high-precision screw guide transmission on a control system we developed ourselves.
That last point matters more than it sounds. Because the operating system is our own rather than licensed from abroad, support, parameter changes and fault diagnosis do not depend on a third party in another time zone.

How many stones per hour can an automatic wax setting machine actually set?
Between 10,000 and 20,000 stones per hour by model: up to 10,000 on the Pro Mini, up to 15,000 across both stations on the X4 Pro Plus (catalogue name ST-3D 1000), and up to 20,000 on the ST-HDSSM. Those are rated figures. Real output is governed by your design, stone sizes and, above all, wax quality, so we confirm a realistic number against your own samples before quoting.
Which setting machine should I buy first?
The Pro Mini if you are automating for the first time or limited to single-phase power and a small floor; the X4 Pro Plus or ST-HDSSM if you already run a production floor and the setting bench is the bottleneck. The Pro Mini is 135 kg at 1.3 kW; the double-station X4 Pro Plus and eight-nozzle ST-HDSSM are where the throughput is. If setting is not your bottleneck we will tell you so; buying a setting machine to fix a casting problem is the most common expensive mistake here.
What does ±0.02 mm accuracy mean in practice?
It is the spot drilling accuracy: how precisely the machine places each seat relative to the programmed position. All four machines in the range hold the same ±0.02 mm figure, so accuracy is not what separates them — throughput, nozzle count, station count and footprint are.
What support equipment does a setting machine need?
A compressor and an air dryer, always. Working air pressure is 80 psi (0.4 MPa) on the Pro Mini and, per the catalogue, the ST-3D 1000 (now the X4 Pro Plus), and 90 psi (0.6 MPa) on the ST-HDSSM. Dry air is not optional — moisture in the line is a leading cause of nozzle problems. Budget for both when you compare machine prices, because a quotation that excludes them is not comparable to one that includes them.
Does automation replace my setters?
Not entirely, and we would rather say so here than after you have bought. The machine handles repetitive wax setting at volume. Micro setting, irregular work, repairs and final quality judgement stay with your people at stage seven. What automation changes is where your skilled setters spend their day — on the work that needs judgement rather than the work that needs endurance.
