Questions
Straight answers from the people who install and service these machines. Anything not covered here, ask us on the form below.
The number of dies the wire is pulled through in one run, each die a little smaller than the last. More passes take a thicker starting wire further in a single operation: the 6-pass SMT 82 accepts wire up to 1.2 mm, the 8-pass SMT 83 up to 1.4 mm and the 12-pass SMT 84 up to 2.0 mm. All three draw down to 0.05 mm (47 gauge).
Start from the thickest wire you feed. If your rolled stock is 1.2 mm or finer, the SMT 82 covers it at 2 HP and 350 kg. For 1.4 mm the SMT 83; for 2.0 mm the 12-pass SMT 84 at 550 kg. The finished minimum is the same on all three, so the decision is input size and how many reductions you want in one run.
A 2 HP main motor on the SMT 82 and 3 HP on the SMT 83 and SMT 84, each with a 0.25 HP cooling motor. The catalogue does not state the supply phase for these models; confirm it in writing before ordering.
It weighs SMT 82: 350 kg · SMT 83: 400 kg · SMT 84: 550 kg. Allow clear working space on the operator side, plus access for any support equipment — compressor, air dryer or water chiller — when planning your layout.
Yes. We commission the machine on your floor and train your operators on your own material and your own designs rather than a demonstration sample. Semsons Tech has served the diamond and jewellery industry since 1978, and on our setting machines the control system is self-developed, so support does not depend on a third party abroad.
We do not publish delivery times, spare-parts pricing or AMC terms, because all three depend on configuration, destination and what is on the floor at the time. They are confirmed in writing on your quotation rather than estimated here. Ask for them explicitly when you enquire and you will get them in writing.
We quote per configuration and destination rather than publishing a list price, because voltage, tooling, spares package and shipping all change the figure. Send us your requirement through the form on this page and you will receive a written quotation.
