How a double-station wax setting machine works, and when the X4 Pro Plus fits
A double-station wax setting machine sets stones into wax models on one worktable while the operator reloads the other, so the setting head barely waits. The X4 Pro Plus does this with four suction nozzles at ±0.02 mm, rated at up to 15,000 stones per hour on single-phase power. Here is how it works and how to tell whether it suits your workshop.

Hand setting stones into wax is skilled, slow and hard to keep consistent across a long run. An automatic wax setting machine takes over the repetitive part: picking each stone and placing it into its seat in the wax model, before the tree goes for casting. This article explains how a double-station machine does that, using the Semsons X4 Pro Plus as the example, and what to check before deciding whether it suits your floor.
What is the X4 Pro Plus?
The X4 Pro Plus is Semsons Tech's double-station automatic wax setting machine. It sets diamonds and CZ into jewellery wax models, on two worktables, from four suction nozzles. In our printed catalogue the same machine is listed as the ST-3D 1000 (PRO PLUS series), under the equipment name "Dual Station Automatic Setting Machine". The names differ; the machine does not.
"Wax setting" here means setting stones into the wax pattern so the metal is cast around them. It is not wax injection (making the pattern) and not wax 3D printing. Getting those three apart matters when you compare suppliers, because they are often listed under similar names.
How a double-station machine works
The short answer: two worktables share one setting head, so loading and setting overlap instead of taking turns.
- Feeding. Stones are loaded into a four-tray continuous feeding system that holds 12,800 stones at a time, so the machine runs long between refills. It can set up to eight colours or sizes, or a mix of both, in one run.
- Pick and place. The suction nozzles pick each stone and place it at the programmed position in the wax. Placement is specified at ±0.02 mm spot accuracy, driven by five-axis motion with 540° rotation, servo drives and high-precision screw guides.
- The second station. While one worktable is being set, the operator unloads the finished wax from the other and loads the next. The catalogue describes this as a planar double worktable with a double rotating axis.
- Control. The operator runs the machine from a touchscreen on Semsons' own NC control system.
That overlap is the whole point of a second station. On a single-station machine the head waits while the plate is changed; here, the next plate is already in place.
What it changes on the production floor
- Consistency across a run. The ±0.02 mm specification applies to the last piece of a shift exactly as to the first. That is usually worth more than raw speed, because it cuts rework.
- Less repetitive hand work. The store sheet puts the machine at the work of 10–12 skilled manual setters. In practice most workshops move setters to micro setting, correction and finishing rather than letting them go — see manual vs automatic setting.
- Higher potential throughput. The machine is rated at up to 15,000 stones per hour across both stations. Treat that as a ceiling, not a promise: your designs, stone sizes and above all your wax decide what you actually get.
- Simpler utilities. It runs on ordinary single-phase power, which keeps it within reach of workshops without a three-phase supply.
Is it right for your workshop?
A double-station machine makes most sense where volume is steady and repetitive: production lines of rings, bangles, pendants, mangalsutras and similar pieces where the same designs run in quantity. For one-off pieces, repairs and very irregular work, hand setting still wins.
Before you decide, check these in order:
- Your real requirement. Pieces per month × stones per piece ÷ productive setting hours gives a stones-per-hour figure. If it is well under 10,000, the single-station Pro Mini may fit better.
- Wax quality. A setting machine cannot correct a distorted pattern. Read why wax quality decides output before you buy.
- Power and air. Single-phase 220V 50Hz, 3 kVA peak. The store sheet does not state an air pressure, so get the compressed-air requirement in writing.
- Space and access. The machine is 950 × 750 × 1400 mm and weighs 850 kg. Plan operator room around it and check the route in.
- Your own samples. Ask for your designs and stone sizes to be run, and for the realistic output on them, not the rated maximum.
Our buying guide to diamond wax setting machines covers each of these in more depth and compares all four models.

Price, installation and the next step
The X4 Pro Plus is quoted rather than listed, because voltage, tooling, spares and shipping all change the figure. Booking starts from ₹50,000 inclusive of GST, and the final price is confirmed in writing on your quotation. Installation on your floor and operator training are included. Semsons Tech has served the jewellery industry from Mumbai since 1978.
The useful next step is to send us your designs, stone sizes and target output. We will tell you honestly whether the X4 Pro Plus, a smaller machine, or no machine at all is the right answer — send an enquiry or see the full X4 Pro Plus specifications.

Related questions
What is a double-station wax setting machine?
It is an automatic machine that places diamonds and CZ into jewellery wax models before casting, with two worktables instead of one. While the machine sets stones on one station, the operator unloads and reloads the other, so the setting head spends less time waiting for the next plate.
How many stones per hour does the X4 Pro Plus set?
It is rated at up to 15,000 stones per hour across both stations. That is a rated maximum on suitable wax and stone. Real output depends on your designs, stone sizes and wax quality, so Semsons Tech confirms a realistic figure against your own samples before quoting.
Does the X4 Pro Plus need three-phase power?
No. The store sheet specifies single-phase 220V 50Hz at 3 kVA peak. The sheet does not state a compressed-air figure, so ask for the air requirement in writing with your quotation.
Is the X4 Pro Plus the same machine as the ST-3D 1000?
Yes. ST-3D 1000 is the catalogue designation and PRO PLUS the series; the online store sells the machine as the X4 Pro Plus. The X4 Pro Plus page carries the current specification sheet.
What should I check before buying an automatic wax setting machine?
Start with your real stones-per-hour requirement, then your incoming power and compressed air, the floor space including access, and the consistency of your wax. Then run your own designs and stone sizes as a sample, and get delivery, spares and service terms confirmed in writing.
